WHY WE STARTED

Our daughter Aubrey was born with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC). AMC is defined as having multiple contractors, stiff joints, lack of muscle and nerve damage. We were told at birth by doctors she could pass away before the age of two. They stated if she surpassed age two she would be confined to a wheelchair and need help with everything. Aubrey is now eleven and has had eleven operations. She has had three different surgeons, two of them being AMC specialists. Her current surgeon has given her so much hope and changed her life forever, she calls him her hero. Aubrey walks in long leg braces (KAFOs) with a walker and is working towards using less equipment. Aubrey uses a power wheelchair for long distances.

Having a disability requires a lot of things that are needed to become stronger, more flexible and most importantly becoming independent. Therapist, braces, medical equipment, personal trainer, water therapy, surgeries, specialist, home modifications, and many other things are needed to get Aubrey by day to day in life. These are some of the many resources individuals with disabilities need to become more independent in life. Changing Ways will provide as many resources, as possible for other individuals with disabilities.
